Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem has appointed Randy Miller as director of the North Dakota Lottery. Miller started work last week.
 
Miller said he is finding the transition to the Lottery Division relatively easy as he has been a state employee for the past eight years, most recently with the N.D. Department of Health as a billing program director.
 
In his first week on the job, Miller awarded a prize of $5,000.
 
"Randy brings years of experience in developing and overseeing the financial and business operations of a large program," said Stenehjem. "His familiarity with the operations of state government will allow him to immediately begin concentrating on the operation of the lottery and continuing our partnership with the lottery retailers."
 
Miller was selected by a committee comprised of former gaming board members, a representative of lottery retailers and a representative of gambling addiction counselors, who conducted a lengthy interview with the candidates before making the recommendation to Stenehjem.
 
Miller graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He has 13 years of employment related to business and financial management, including being business manager at the Garrison Public School District, office manager at McLean Electric Cooperative, director of finance with the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Division of Juvenile Services and most recently with the North Dakota Department of Health.
 
Randy and his wife Kay live in Mandan and have two children.
