Clint Harris became Minnesota’s second Lottery Director on October 11, 2004 following his appointment by Governor Tim Pawlenty.
Prior to moving to Minnesota, Harris had been director of the South Dakota Lottery. Formally appointed to that position in May 2003, he had served as acting executive director for the previous three years. He joined the South Dakota Lottery in 1993 as research analyst and was named director of administration in 1995.
A native of New Jersey, Harris has a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern State University, Aberdeen, South Dakota and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota. Prior to joining the Lottery, he worked in the retail grocery business for 17 years. He has been married for 32 years to wife Dawn and they have three children and three grandchildren.
Harris served as the President of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) Board of Directors in 2009, vice chair of the (MUSL) International Game Group, and is a member of the World Lottery Association Training and Education Committee. He also served as President of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries in 2007.
