Rebecca Paul Hargrove is a longtime lottery industry veteran and has served as the Chief Executive of four U.S. lotteries and as a consultant to lotteries across the globe. In three of those four states she led the start-up and remains one of the most respected, experienced leaders in the field.
Ms. Hargrove is especially known for her marketing savvy. In fact, it was while working as a television marketing professional in Illinois that she was first asked to lead a lottery in 1985. From that initial post as Director of the Illinois Lottery, during which sales climbed to more than $1.3 billion, she went on to launch the Florida Lottery. From there, she moved just north to launch the Georgia Lottery, where she continued to set industry records. During her 10 years in the Peach State, the Georgia Lottery generated more than $6 billion for education and scholarship funds.
Her experience has led to her current position as the first President and CEO of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation, where she is celebrating her seventh year at the helm with a track record of raising more than $1.7 billion for specific education programs.
Ms. Hargrove’s resume includes a long list of lottery industry, business and civic accomplishments and honors, including serving as President of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, Vice-Chairman of the Public Sector Gaming Study Commission and President of A.I.L.E. (one of the predecessors of the World Lottery Association). She is a recipient of Public Gaming Research Institute’s Peter O’Connell Lifetime Achievement Award; was one of the first inductees to the Lottery Industry Hall of Fame; won the Robert Todd Duncan Alumni Achievement Award from her alma mater of Butler University; was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Stanford Graduate School of Business Alumni Association; won the Corporate Leadership Award from the Georgia Association of Minority Entrepreneurs, was named one of The Tennessean newspaper’s Tennesseans of the Year in 2005 and is immediate past Chair of the Powerball Group. Throughout her career, Rebecca has served on a variety of boards and continues to support many causes.
Hargrove holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Education from Butler University and is a native of Indiana—although she now calls Tennessee home.
